The Lawn Care Home supports and facilitates village’s annual community festival

The residents and care team at The Lawn, our Alton-based residential care home, have had a ‘Fete-tastic’ time hosting the 2026 Holybourne Village Association’s (HVA) Community Summer Picnic and Fete in the care home’s delightful grounds.

The Lawn welcomed over 100 members of the Holybourne community to the highly anticipated village extravaganza. “All the residents and care team had a super time at the HVA’s Community Summer Picnic and Fete,” said Steve Swift, the Registered Manager at The Lawn. “It was wonderful to see so many members of our local village community come along and enjoy a fun-filled, and sun-soaked day.”

The HVA’s Community Summer Picnic and Fete was a family-focused, festival and visitors enjoyed – and participated in – lots of inclusive and accessible activities, strolled around a wide range of artisan stalls which were selling a marvellous selection of local gifts and products, tucked into tasty refreshments and delighted in an array outstanding entertainment performances.

“Everyone at the HVA had a wonderful time at the annual community summer event,” added Megan-Beth Millar, HVA member and organiser of the event. “We cannot thank Steve and The Lawn Care Team enough for being so hospitable and allowing us to host this year’s village gathering on their beautiful grounds.”

“The annual HVA Community Summer Picnic and Fete is a highlight on the village’s calendar,” continued Steve. “It is not only nostalgic, but also full of charm – and being 100% community-focused – it’s a great opportunity for the residents to meet the lovely people of Holybourne, join in with the activities, catch up with old friends and make new connections.”

“To ensure the residents had enough shade and cool areas to relax in, we arranged for their very own VIP area where they could watch all the activities, chat with the visitors and enjoy all the proceedings. They all wore extra special VIP rosettes, so they were instantly recognised as well,” added Adesoji Odukomaiya, the Activity Coordinator at the care home.

“The residents love all our community-orientated events, and like taking active roles, and the HVA’s summer community event was no different. They made their rosettes, chatted to members of the HVA and the visitors, which they thoroughly enjoyed.”

“At The Lawn, we have a staunch commitment and promise to keep the residents engaged with and part of the local community,” continued Steve. “Being able to host the 2026 HVA Summer Community Picnic and Fete and supporting the village and our neighbours is a great thing for us to be able to do and underpins our pledge to the residents.”

“The HVA welcomed the opportunity to work with The Lawn and it was lovely to see residents and Holybourne come together – including the four-legged ones! We look forward to next year and future events,” added Megan.

“The magic of the HVA Community Summer Picnic and Fete is that it’s a totally joyous and inclusive gathering of the local community. Laughter was definitely the main currency of the day and every visitor and neighbour felt like family.

“It was a true celebration of Holybourne which not only captured the hearts of the community, but also the hearts of the residents,” concluded Steve.
