‘Care is Coming Home’ to Orford House, our Coulsdon-based residential care home, as the residents and care team are inviting the local community to join them for a free, family and fun football afternoon.
“To celebrate this year’s World Cup Tournament, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday 17th June, we will be hosting our very own free, interactive and inclusive community Football Fever Fun Day and turning Orford House’s beautiful courtyard into a football-orientated arena that every Premiership Player would be proud of,” said Michelle Kennett, the Registered Manager at the care home.
“The free ‘Boot-tiful’ community event is a ‘Goal’den’ opportunity for the residents and care team to invite family, friends and the local community to join them and enjoy a fun-filled and inclusive afternoon to mark this year’s World Cup Championship.”
“We have a ‘Pitch Perfect’ range of football-orientated games and activities for everyone to enjoy and take part in,” continued Mary Bradley, the Activities Coordinator at Orford House. “There will be so much going on including a range of football-focused games including Chair and Balloon Keepy-Uppies and the Football Parachute Game. We’ll also have a special ‘Pick a Team’ competition to win an exclusive trophy, Shoot The Goal and Field Goal matches, Tabletop Football and even Straw Blow Football – making it a truly ‘Football-tastic’ event.
“The residents and guests can also have their nails done with stylish Football Art or even walk away with a stunning, temporary tattoo, plus special football cakes and refreshments will also be available.”
“The residents always thoroughly our all our community events, and love keeping active so what better way to celebrate this year’s World Cup Football Tournament than to host our own free community football-focused event,” added Michelle.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to the residents to keep them involved with and part of their local community, we host a wide range of different community events throughout the year,” continued Michelle. “Taking part in and being part of community events is incredibly beneficial for the residents as they not only provide new and interesting social interactions but also help to maintain cognitive sharpness. In addition, staying socially engaged is linked to lowering blood pressure and community events are also a wonderful way for the residents to share their experiences with others, reminisce, establish new relationships and make new friends.
“Everyone at Orford House is looking forward to the free Community Football Family Fun Day and we hope that the visitors will leave feeling like they’ve had a ‘Feel-Goal’ Day,” concluded Michelle.
