The residents and care team at Orford House, our Coulsdon-based residential care home, are inviting the local community to join them for a ‘Bear-tiful’ time at the care home’s first Teddy Bears’ Picnic on Tuesday 16th June.
“From 1 p.m. on Tuesday 16th June we will be championing this year’s Care Home Open Week by hosting our very own and ‘Bear-exciting’ community event,” said Michelle Kennett, the Registered Manager at Orford House. “We are inviting members of our local community to come along with their blankets, picnic baskets and Teddies and join the residents for a ‘Paws-itively’ ‘Paw-fect’ afternoon at our very own Teddy Bears’ Picnic.”
“In true Teddy Bear Picnic style, we are asking everyone to enter into the ‘Fur-tastic’ spirit and either come in fancy dress or their PJs,” added Mary Bradley, the Activities Coordinator at Orford House.
“There will be lots of ‘Un-bear-lievable’ fun activities taking place, including a wide range of garden games, a Fancy Dress Competition plus our very own Ice Cream Parlour will be open which will be serving up mouth-watering ice cream sundae cones which can be topped with an array of different decorations including sprinkles, flakes, chocolate buttons and jellies – which we are sure everyone will enjoy – it will be a ‘Grrr-eat’ inclusive and interactive afternoon for everyone.
“We’ll also have sandwiches and tasty cakes – plus hot and cold drinks available too,” added Michelle.
“Hosting the community Teddy Bear’s Picnic during Care Home Open Week will also give us the opportunity to open our doors and give visitors, prospective residents and respite guests and their families the chance to see and experience, first-hand, our wide range of great facilities, meet the residents and dedicated care team and find out about all the wonderful activities on offer at Orford House,” continued Michelle.
Michelle and the Care Team will also be on hand to give guided tours of Orford House “The tours will take in all of Orford House’s ‘Bear-tiful’ facilities including all its spacious, elegant and airy rooms, the bright and cheerful communal areas and the cosy, relaxing lounge,” added Michelle. “If the local wildlife are in the area, visitors may also get a peek of some of the amazing deer who regularly wander around our stunning woodlands and grounds.”
“We are all looking forward to celebrating Care Home Open Week 2026 and hosting our Teddy Bears’ Picnic. We are all looking forward to the event and meeting with members of our local community, seeing old friends and making new friends. It will also be a great opportunity for us to demonstrate and highlight how the compassionate and professional care team is 100% dedicated to supporting those they care for, every second of every hour of every day,” concluded Michelle.
