Luton care home celebrates this year’s Care Home Open Week

In celebration of this year’s World Cup Tournament and Care Home Open Week 2026, our Luton-based residential care home Little Bramingham Farm, is hosting a ‘Pitch Perfect’ Community Party full of games, entertainment and delicious refreshments for the residents, their families, friends, loved ones, the local community and visitors.

“On Tuesday 16th June, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., we will be marking England’s iconic 1966 World Cup win, this year’s World Cup Football Tournament and Care Home Open Week, and hosting a free ‘Boot-tiful’ community event, which will be full of fun packed activities, football themed refreshments and entertainment courtesy of local singer, Aimi P,” said Emma Lawrance, the Registered Manager at Little Bramingham Farm.

“The residents always thoroughly our community events, so what better way to not only celebrate football, but also champion this year’s Care Home Open Week, than to host our own community football event – it’s a ‘Goal-den’ opportunity we didn’t want to miss,” added Karen Charity, the Activities Coordinator at the care home.

Activities taking place will include The Little Bramingham Farm Walking Football Competition, where the residents will take on members of the local community and their family and friends. “Pupils from Lea Manor High School will also be coming along and taking part in the contest as well,” continued Emma.

“Susie’s Tea Room, which is located in our beautiful and tranquil gardens, will be open for our guests to purchase tasty football-themed refreshments and hot and cold beverages and they will also be entertained by Aimi P, an amazing local performer and vocalist, who will be singing a vast range of popular songs, plus a few special well-known football tracks as well.”

Guests will be able to relax outside in the care home’s peaceful setting, and either take part in the activities, or cheer the teams on from the sidelines. “All week, the care team and I will also be on hand to give tours of Little Bramingham Farm to visitors, potential residents and respite guests. Our ‘Home Ground’ is a wonderful place to see and the community football event will provide an ideal platform for us to showcase its outstanding and welcoming facilities,” added Emma.

The tours will give visitors an opportunity to see Little Bramingham Farm’s wide range of great facilities and also the spacious, comfortable, accessible and airy spaces, as well as the attractive and comfortable communal spaces which are ideal for entertaining loved ones and friends. “The care home’s bright setting and surroundings, it is definitely a great place to relax, entertain and socialise,” continued Karen.

“We have a wide and varied calendar of meaningful activities, which are designed and adapted to meet all the residents’ individual preferences, likes and needs,” continued Karen.

“To get the residents ‘Pitch Perfect’ for the community football day, I have added a new activity which is called ‘What’s in the Kit Bag?’ It’s a fun guessing game, which is designed to be a pre-match ‘enjoyable workout’ for the residents which will not only help to improve memories but also maintain their mental sharpness.”

“There are many benefits to older people in taking part in guessing and memory games including improving memory and problem-solving skills, helping dexterity and hand-eye coordination. They are also great at helping to reduce anxiety as by engaging in a fun, quite focused game, it can be a type of meditation which, in turn, lowers blood pressure. In addition, when an older person successfully guesses a right answer, it can trigger the release of Dopamine, which brings feelings of pleasure and motivation,” added Emma.

“The Community World Cup Activity Day and Care Home Open Week celebrations will be a wonderful opportunity for us to showcase our outstanding care home to a wider audience and physically demonstrate what a compassionate and caring team are at Little Bramingham Farm. We are hoping that the residents and all the visitors will leave feeling like they’ve had a ‘Foot-tastic’ time and a ‘Feel-Goal’ day,” concluded Emma.
