The residents and care team at Little Bramingham Farm, are inviting their families, friends, loved ones and members of the local community to join them for a fun and inclusive summer Hoedown party.
“On Saturday 13th June, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., Little Bramingham Farm will be transformed into a Country and Western setting with music, laughter, and delicious refreshments which will be barrels of fun,” said Emma Lawrance, the Registered Manager at the care home. “Our large, comfortable and accessible marquee – which will be decorated in true ‘Oklahoma’ style – will be the perfect place for the residents and guests to relax, chat and enjoy all the fun, tasty refreshments and ‘Horsing Around’.”
“The residents love all our community events but have really taken to the Hoedown theme and are looking forward to enjoying the evening with all the guests,” continued Karen Charity, Little Bramingham Farm’s Activity Coordinator. “The residents have been having lots of reminiscing chats about their own memories of Hoedowns, Barn Dances and Ceilidhs and, as ever, their knowledge always surprises me.
“One resident told me that the word ‘Hoedown’ originated in America back in the mid-19th Century and was created from when the workers put their hoes down after a long day’s work in the fields. The name then became the title of the celebratory dance party that occurred once the work was finished.
“Another resident said that Hoedowns are usually known as Barn Dances or Ceilidhs in the UK and that she had many fond memories of attending these types of dances. She said she particularly liked the dance moves Promenading, Do-si-Do-ing and Allemanding, so again, I learnt something new.”
Little Bramingham Farm’s Community Summer Hoedown Party will also have amazing entertainment courtesy of singer Joe Corrigan, who will be entertaining guests with family favourites and popular songs which will add to the jamboree atmosphere.
“There will also be a traditional Fish and Chips Van serving mouth-watering meals,” continued Emma. “The meals on offer are Cod and Chips, Jumbo Sausage and Chips, Vegetarian Burger and Chips and Vegan Sausage and Chips and each meal is included in the ticket price. We only ask that guests pre-order their meals when they are purchasing their Hoedown tickets.”
Tickets for Little Bramingham Farm’s Community Summer Hoedown Party, which includes a tasty meal, are £12 per adult and £10 per child (under 10’s). Booking is easy, to reserve your place, please call the care home on 01582 582 433 and a member of the care team will be ready to help you. Alternatively, please email [email protected].
“In addition to the delicious meals, guests can also purchase refreshing ice creams and desserts from the ‘Dessert Guy’ – Mr Rushed – who is well-known for his scrumptious creations of traditional ice creams, sundaes and desserts which include the classic Chocolate Brownie and School Cake,” added Karen.
“There will be a rustic Hoedown photo setting for guests to enjoy, taking photos on the hay bales, surrounded by horseshoes, barrels and wagon wheels,” continued Emma. “We’d also love to see guests in their finest Cowboy and Cowgirl outfits to get into the Wild West spirit.”
“The residents have already started planning their outfits for the Hoedown and to help with their costume ideas, have watched a few Hollywood classics too such as Oklahoma and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and, as ever, the jokes have started,” added Karen. “The latest rib tickler that had us all in stitches was ‘What’s a Cowboy’s favourite car? An ‘Audi’ partner’ – and I’m sure there are more gags to come.”
“Everyone at Little Bramingham Farm is looking forward to welcoming family, friends and our local community to our Summer Hoedown Party. It’s going to be full of ‘Hay-larious’ frivolity, laughter, music and fun and will be a wonderful way to enjoy a lovely summer’s evening together,” concluded Emma.
