Orford House Care Home is hosting a FREE community Easter fun event

The care team and residents at our Coulsdon-based residential care home, Orford House, are getting ready to welcome members from the local community, friends and neighbours to its free family fun-filled community Easter afternoon.

“On Thursday 2nd April, from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m., Orford House will be metamorphosed into an ‘Egg-cellent’’ Easter wonderland,” said Michelle Kennett, the Registered Manager at the care home. “It’s no ‘Yolk’, the Easter Bunny is getting lots of ‘Eggs-ercise’ as he’s already hopping around making sure all the ‘Egg-stra’ special arrangements are perfect, ‘Egg-specially’ the Easter Egg Hunt – he ‘Carrot’ wait to meet everyone,” added Mary Bradley, Orford House’s Activities Coordinator.

“The Easter Bunny has been ‘Egg-stra’ busy’ and really’ helpful,” continued Michelle. “He’s been ‘Egg-spertly’ planting pretty plastic eggs throughout our beautiful grounds, ready to be found – he must be ‘Egg-hausted’.

“He’s got a ‘Hare-raising’ stash of scrummy chocolate eggs which he’ll hand out to the children, residents and everyone who completes the Easter Egg Hunt, in return for the plastic eggs they have discovered.”

The Easter Bunny has also made time in his busy diary to be at Orford House for the event as well. “We are so ‘Hoppy’ that the Easter Bunny will be with us,” added Mary. “He ‘Carrot’ wait to meet all the visitors and children. “We’ll be hosting a fancy dress competition as well and are asking for as many children as possible, and who would like to, to come along dressed as their favourite character from a book. It could be Harry Potter or Hermione Granger, Paddington Bear, Matilda, Bilbo Baggins, Aladin, Cinderella or even Alice’s White Rabbit – all characters are welcome and, the more the merrier.”

The residents have also been busy, making a great selection of beautiful Easter Bonnets to give to the children who come along. “The ‘Hare-made’ bonnets will be given to the children as they arrive,” continued Michelle. “After the ‘Hare-raising’ fun of the Easter Egg Hunt, the residents will judge the best bonnet and fancy dress outfit, but nobody will go home empty handed, as everyone will have their ‘Ear-resistible’ Easter Eggs to enjoy.”

There will also be free refreshments available throughout the Easter Fun Afternoon and an arts and crafts area for the children – and residents – to put their ‘Egg-squisite’ artistic skills to work.

“There’s no need to book, visitors can just turn up at Orford House from 1:30 p.m. and enjoy an inclusive, fun and accessible Easter ‘Hop’ which will be amazing fun for everyone. The Easter Bunny, who is our favourite practical ‘Yolker’, has promised to keep the party going and have lots of photos taken with our visitors too,” said Mary.

“Everyone at the care home is super ‘Egg-cited’ and looking forward to spending a fantastic time with our neighbours, members of the local community, family, loved ones and friends. It really will be an ‘Easter-tastic’ event,” concluded Michelle.
