Orford House Care Home launches new, free community initiative Friends Connect

At 10 a.m. on Friday 10th April, the care team and residents at Orford House, our Coulsdon-based residential care home, are excited to be launching its new, free community initiative – Friends Connect. “Friends Connect is Friends of the Elderly’s new monthly programme of supportive events and for older people and the people who support them,” said Michelle Kennett, the Registered Manager at Orford House.

“Friends Connect will bring members of the local community into our beautiful home for welcoming, relaxed coffee mornings which will take place on the first Friday of every month. Our guests will be able to enjoy delicious cakes, pastries, tasty nibbles, warming refreshments – and of course, great company and conversations with our residents and each other too.”

“Friends Connect will bring additional benefits to the residents and the older people who come along and join us, as they will not only provide a great social interaction, which will enhance mental wellbeing, but also cultivate new friendships,” added Mary Bradley, the Activities Coordinator at Orford House.

“Friends Connect will also be an ideal opportunity for members of the Coulsdon, Banstead, Tadworth and surrounding communities, visitors, our neighbours, potential residents or respite guests and residents’ family members to pop in, enjoy a free warming cup of coffee and a tasty treat, and catch up with old friends and make friends too,” continued Michelle.

No booking is required to attend Friends Connect at Orford House – the care’s home’s doors will be open and the care team ready to welcome guests on the first Friday of the month with fresh coffee and nibbles ready from 10 a.m.

“We are all looking forward to making new friends and acquaintances, seeing old friends, meeting members of our local community, our neighbours, and catching up with our residents’ relatives and loved ones on Friday 10th April at our first Friends Connect at Orford House,” concluded Michelle.
