Love was in the air and all around at Friends of the Elderly’s Malvern-based Davenham, Perrins House and Bradbury Court, on Valentine’s Day, as the residents enjoyed a special, romantic restaurant lunch experience in Davenham’s Chapel. “For this year’s Valentine’s Day, we decided to turn Davenham Chapel into our very own Chez Malvern restaurant,” said Jo Bennett, the General Manager at Friends of the Elderly Malvern. “We wanted it to be an extra special day for the all the residents, their family members, friends and loved ones to enjoy, so we created a dining experience like no other, that any Michelin Star restaurant would have been proud of. “We totally appreciate and understand that for our residents who are single, Widows or Widowers, Valentine’s Day can bring back strong feelings of sadness for their lost spouses and partners and friends, so we focused the day on celebrating friendship, companionship, laughter and, of course, love,” continued Jo.
Friends of the Elderly Malvern’s Chef, Kevin, served a delicious meal of oven-roasted chicken breast stuffed with Italian Mozzarella and spinach, wrapped in Parma Ham, which was served with a Tarragon Velouté, Dauphinoise Potatoes and glazed carrots. This was followed by a decedent dessert of Baileys and chocolate bread and butter pudding, poached pear and vanilla sauce.
“Everyone who visited Chez Malvern adored the Valentine’s Day meal,” added Dawn Jones, the Activities Coordinator at Davenham. “Two guests enjoyed it so much, they sent us a wonderful thank you note saying a big thank you to the Chef and said what a special time they had together. They also congratulated the care home team on how delightful The Chapel looked, the nice, soft background music and how helpful the waiters and waitresses were and they even asked if they could book for next year.”
“We were over the moon and so delighted to be able to host such a beautiful Valentine’s meal for our residents, their friends, family members, spouses and loved ones at Chez Malvern in Davenham’s Chapel,” continued Selena Whittaker, the Activities Coordinator at Perrins House.
“It was a special time which celebrated friendship and love, and it was great to see residents from all three Malvern care homes enjoying the mouth-watering meal cooked by our talented Chef, Kevin. The food, atmosphere and ambience was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone,” concluded Jo.
