Friends of the Elderly Malvern hosting a FREE community magical Christmas Market and Santa’s Grotto

Christmas Fair The Christmas Spirit is well and truly in the air and all around at our Malvern-based Davenham, Perrins House and Bradbury Court, the residential, nursing and dementia care homes which are collectively known as Friends of the Elderly Malvern as the residents and care team are preparing all the Yuletide festivities for the annual free Community Christmas Market and Santa’s Grotto. The halls are being decked, the fairly lights strung and the ‘Be-yule-tiful’ Christmas Trees adorned with baubles ready to spread lots of fun, festive cheer at the care home’s free community Christmas Market and Santa’s Grotto on Saturday 6th December.

“Our free Community Christmas spectacular is nearly here,” said Jo Bennett, the General Manager of Friends of the Elderly Malvern. “On Saturday 6th December, our cheery Christmas gates will be open from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. when we are all looking forward to welcoming family, friends, neighbours and members of our local community to our annual Christmas Market – which is free for everyone to attend.” The three Activities Coordinators at Friends of the Elderly Malvern have taken on the role of the care homes’ Christmas Elves and have been busy organising the Christmas Market. “It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas here at Friends of the Elderly Malvern,” said Dawn Jones, the Activities Coordinator at Davenham.

“If you need to start or complete your Christmas shopping or just fancy picking up a few unique stocking fillers, we will have a wide range of local artisan stalls including arts and crafts, jewellery, Christmas gifts, festive hair braiding, Christmas decorations and Bric-A-Brac, together with our very own residents’ stall which will be selling hand-made knitted items, courtesy of our knit and Natter Group, pin cushions and other lovely items,” continued Jo.

However, it’s not just Christmas stalls and shopping that will be on offer. “There will be delicious festive refreshments including hot and cold drinks, sweet treats, mulled wine and mince pies available to purchase, as well,” added Activities Coordinator, Tina Ellenton. “There will be live entertainment from singer, Reba, who will be performing a catalogue of festive songs to entertain the visitors between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.; and there will also be a Children’s Christmas Activity Area with ‘Fa-la-la-la-fabulous’ colouring and lots more.”

No Christmas Market would be complete without ‘The Elf-Made Man in Red’ himself – Santa Claus. “I contacted the North Pole and spoke to Buddy, one of Santa’s Elves,” continued Jo. “Buddy said that even though Santa is very, very busy at this time of the year, he’s promised to be with us on Saturday 6th December as he wouldn’t miss seeing all the children and residents for all the snow in The North Pole.”

“We are hoping to see lots of the residents’ family, friends, Malvern Day Care clients, neighbours and members of our local community, plus old friends and friends – at the free Community Christmas Market and Santa’s Grotto.”

“Everyone at Friends of the Elderly Malvern is sure that all the visitors who come along on Saturday 6th will have a Holly Jolly time and a festive fun-filled day which will be a wonderful way start the Christmas Season,” Jo concluded.
