Bernard Sunley care home hosting a FREE Christmas lunch for the older people of Woking

Christmas tableBernard Sunley, our Woking-based residential, nursing and dementia care home, is asking the older people of pensionable age who live in and around Woking to ‘Be Their Guests’ on Christmas Day and enjoy a free, festive experience.

As part of our continued commitment to keep all the residents we support and care for involved with, and part of, their local community, we are putting out a Woking-wide invitation to the older people of pensionable age who live in and around Woking, who will be spending Christmas Day on their own, to come and join us for a special Yuletide day,” said Andy Cumper, the Registered Manager at Bernard Sunley. “We don’t want anyone to be alone this Christmas Day, and it would be wonderful if the older people in our vicinity could come along and join us for a free Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings – and a ‘holly jolly’ day.”

On Thursday 25th December, the Bernard Sunley Care Team will be opening the care home’s doors and welcoming Woking’s older generation to their free traditional Christmas Day lunch, pre-lunch drinks and an afternoon full of festive fun. “From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., we will be hosting our free, Christmas Day lunch which will be followed by a Yuletide activities and relaxing afternoon,” continued Andy. “When our guests arrive, they will be able to meet the residents and Care Team and enjoy a glass of something Christmassy whilst relaxing and chatting to the residents and each other in one of our comfortable lounges. Our in-house Chef will be cooking up a Christmas delight, serving a full traditional Christmas lunch at 12:30 p.m. The Chef has created a wonderful menu which covers all time-honoured classics and favourites such as the customary Christmas Day Roast Turkey and Honey Roasted Gammon or, for our vegetarian guests, Mushroom Bourguignon Pie, all of which will be accompanied by Roast or Mashed Potatoes, Braised Red Cabbage, Pigs in Blankets, Glazed Carrots, Parsnips, Stuffing and, of course, home-made Gravy. There’s no need to worry about food intolerances or allergies, as they can all be covered to suit each guest’s individual needs,” added Andy.

However, the festive food sensations do not stop there. “Our guests and residents will follow their lunch with delicious deserts and can decide whether to tuck into scrumptious Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce, Mixed Berry Trifle or Homemade Mince Pies. Once lunch is over, it will be time for everyone to relax in our lovely Cinema Room, put their feet up and watch a special Christmas movie whilst enjoying more Mince Pies, popcorn and a glass of Sherry. We’ll also have a fun selection of engaging Christmas-themed activities taking place, which everyone can take part in too – and live entertainment, courtesy of singer, Smokey Joe, who will be performing a range of Christmas classics,” continued Andy.
