At Friends Place, our new state-of-the-art residential care home in Calcot, Reading, the Care Team is launching a free monthly Community Coffee Morning, which is open to all to attend. As part of its ongoing commitment to keep all those it supports and cares for involved with, and part of, their local community, Friends Place, is opening its doors to its neighbours, friends, resident’s family members and wider local community and inviting them to visit and enjoy a free monthly Coffee Morning.
“From Friday 14th November, and then taking place every second Friday of the month, we will be hosting a free monthly Community Coffee Morning in one of our luxurious, bright and comfortable lounges from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.,” said Alina Gutu, the General Manager at the care home. “We know how much the residents love to socialise, so we put our thinking ‘cap-puccinos’ on and a monthly Community Coffee Morning seemed to be the perfect, percolating idea,” added Elisha Hall-Jones, the Activities Coordinator at Friends Place.
“We hope that the free monthly Community Coffee Mornings will be an ideal opportunity for members of the Calcot and Reading community, visitors, potential residents or respite guests and residents’ family members to pop in and enjoy a free warming cup of coffee and a tasty, sweet treat,” continued Alina. “We also thought it would be a lovely idea to host the monthly Community Coffee Mornings as it will not only give the Care Team a good opportunity to meet new members of our local community, catch up with old friends and chat to prospective residents or respite guests; but also provide an additional, great interactive time for the residents,” added Elisha.
Friends Place’s monthly Community Coffee Mornings will also give visitors the opportunity to see, first-hand, the great facilities the care home has to offer. Coffee Morning visitors will make their way through the bright, airy and fully accessible Reception area and, from the stylish lounge, be able to see the care home’s beautiful gardens and outside seating areas. “If visitors would like to see more of Friends Place whilst they are with us enjoying the Coffee Morning, the Care Team and I will be on hand to give guided tours,” added Alina.
“No booking is required for the free monthly Community Coffee Mornings, our doors will be open every second Friday of the month with fresh coffee and sweet treats ready from 10 a.m.,” Elisha said. “For the December Community Coffee Morning on Friday 12th December, we will be in full festive swing. The Coffee Morning will have Christmas music playing and scrumptious mince pies to enjoy as well,” concluded Alina.
