At Orford House, our Coulsdon-based residential care home, the residents and Care Team are excited to be opening the care home and getting ready for its annual, free community fireworks display party to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night. “Our annual ‘spark-tacular’ fireworks display and party is a firm favourite on our activities calendar,” said Michelle Kennett, the Registered Manager at Orford House. “The residents thoroughly enjoy the event and love to stargaze at the beautiful firework colours and chat to all the guests who join us.”
“Like our previous community firework parties, this year’s marvellous display is guaranteed to definitely light up the sky with dazzling colours,” added Mary Bradley, Orford House’s Activities Coordinator. “We will also be giving out sparklers and glow sticks, plus serving up tasty, warming soups, spiced cider and hot chocolate alongside delicious jacket potatoes with either Chilli Con Carne or Sausages and Beans topping the spuds.” The Care Team will also be offering Ginger Cake and Cinnamon Rolls for those with a sweet tooth.
“In true Guy Fawkes tradition, we’ll have a few ‘rocket-ing’ games to play as well,” added Michelle. “Including Apple Bobbing and roasting Marshmallows to make S’mores – and great entertainment to keep the party going.”
“Orford House’s very own Guy Fawkes will also be in attendance, safely illuminated by solar, battery powered candles,” continued Mary. “We are sure there will also be plenty of laughs and jokes, as the residents have already started with the funny puns. The latest favourite is “What do you call a duck that loves fireworks? A ‘Firequacker’ – but I’m sure there will be many more by 5th November.” The ‘Boom-tastic’, free community fireworks party will take place on Guy Fawkes Night, Wednesday 5th November 2025 and run from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
“Everyone at Orford House care home would like to invite all the local community to come along and join us for fantastic, fun evening. There’s no need to RSVP, just come along and enjoy yourselves,” concluded Michelle.
