2025 September highlights from our care homes and services

Across our care homes and services, residents had a wonderful time enjoying a mixture of fun activities and celebrations last month. Here are our 2025 September highlights:

At Little Bramingham Farm, our Luton-based residential care home, the care team has been celebrating some fantastic and exciting news – they have been nominated as a Finalist in this year’s prestigious National Care Awards in The Care Home of the Year category.

Little Bramingham Farm is a warm and welcoming care home that has been rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, it offers a homely setting where residents live with dignity, independence and happiness.

Yvette CarrHead of Dementia Care Yvette Carr supports World Alzheimer’s Month

In support of this year’s World Alzheimer’s Month and World Alzheimer’s Day Yvette Carr, shared her experiences and ongoing initiatives of how she works to support older people who are living with dementia.

Yvette has worked in the Care Sector for over 40 years, originally as an Orthopaedic Nurse and then as a District Nurse. She joined Friends of the Elderly in 2018 and has been the charity’s Head of Dementia Care since January 2025, having worked with people living with dementia her whole career.

Memphis Landed In Malvern And Served Up A Rocking and Rolling Spectacular

Our residents, their family and friends, the care team and members from the local community had a hip swivelling and rock n’ roll afternoon celebrating our 120th Anniversary.

The care team at our charity’s Malvern-based Davenham, Perrins House and Bradbury Court, the residentialnursing and dementia care homes which are collectively known as Friends of the Elderly Malvern, transformed the care homes’ grounds into a 1950s cowboy fiesta, even Elvis’s character, ‘Clint Reno’, in the 1956 western movie ‘Love Me Tender’ would have been proud of.

Redcot ResidentResidents at Redcot Care Home in Surrey love their regular visits from the ‘Paw-Some’ Bentley

At Redcot , our Haslemere based residential care home, to ‘paw-mark’ this year’s International Dog Day, the residents have been having a ‘paw-fect’ time with Bentley, their four-legged furry friend. Bentley, a beautiful black Labrador, visits Redcot on a regular basis as his ‘Human’, Helen Taylor-Bray, is the care home’s Chef.

Bentley is five-years-old and has been visiting Redcot with Helen for seven months. Over this time, he has made firm friendships with the residents.

Graham-Finch-and-Beryl-Norman-with-Manager-Fran-SimpsonWoking Day Care client’s enjoy a Charleston-Tastic time celebrating our 120th Anniversary

The care team and clients at Woking Day Care celebrated our 120th Anniversary this year. The Day Care, which supports people living with dementia and other age-related conditions – put on the glitz and glamour and enjoyed a ‘Roaring 20s’ themed Summer Party.

“The care team pulled out all the stops and dressed as authentic Flapper Girls and the clients were also dressed to impress. One client who regularly attend the day care service, Beryl Finch, changed things up and dressed as a 1920s gangster, complete with a false moustache and suit braces.”

Residents at Redcot Care Home and the local community enjoy

The residents and care team at Redcot, the charity’s Haslemere-based residential care home, opened the doors of the home and welcomed family, friends and members of the local community to a wonderful, vintage 1940s Afternoon party.

“The residents had a marvellous time at the charity’s 120th Anniversary 1940s afternoon tea party,” said Jan Daly, one of our Regional Directors. “Afternoon Teas are one of the residents’ favourite things, so it was an ideal choice for a celebration to mark such a milestone anniversary.”
