2025 August highlights from our care homes and services

Across our care homes and services, residents had a wonderful time enjoying a mixture of fun activities and celebrations last month. Here are our 2025 August highlights:

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rachel Hill as our new Chief Executive. Rachel joins the charity from The Whiteley Homes Trust where she has served as CEO since 2020.

Rachel brings a wealth of experience in health and social care, having held senior roles across both the NHS and the voluntary sector.

At Friends of the Elderly Malvern, Health Care Assistants Anita Kenwrick & Sue Stocker are celebrating 50 years combined caring for residents at Perrins House.

“Sue and I have worked together and at the Charity for many years, we’re celebrating our Golden Anniversary this year, which is quite an achievement.”

Celebrating International Day of Friendship at Little Bramingham Farm

At Little Bramingham Farm, our Luton-based residential care home, the residents have been celebrating this year’s International Day of Friendship by sharing their thoughts and feelings about each other.

Nella Morley and Betty Taylor have become the best of friends since both moving to Little Bramingham Farm. “As soon as we met, we hit it off,” said Betty. “Luckily our rooms are just around the corner from each other, so we are together as much as possible.

Residents at Orford House Enjoy A Purr-Fect Day Celebrating International Cat Day

The residents and Care Team at Orford House have had a ‘purr-fect’ day celebrating this year’s International Cat Day. “The residents love all animals,” said Mary Bradley, the Activities Coordinator at Orford House. “Especially cats and dogs. We have our own resident care home cat, Teddy, who, after a previous Manager adopted him, made Orford House his forever home.

The Care Team at Bernard Sunley, celebrated Friends of the Elderly 120th Anniversary this year, with a fantastic summertime BBQ party for the residents, their family and friends – and clients from Woking Day Care, which is located next-door to the care home in Smiles Place.
