Christmas magic is in the air and festivities are underway at Malvern-based Davenham, Perrins House and Bradbury Court, our residential, nursing and dementia care homes which are collectively known as Friends of the Elderly Malvern.
The Christmas Spirit is truly in the air as the care team and residents are decking the halls and preparing to spread lots of festive cheer at the care home’s community traditional Christmas Bazaar on Saturday 7 December.
“Our Yuletide community extravaganza is nearly here,” said Jo Bennett, the General Manager of Friends of the Elderly Malvern. “On Saturday 7 December, our Christmas gates will be open from 10am until 2pm and the Christmas Bazaar is free for everyone to attend.”
Tina Ellenton, the Activities Coordinator at Davenham Residential Care Home has taken the ‘Reindeer Reins’ in organising the Christmas Bazaar together with her two colleagues – Selena Whittaker, the Activities Coordinator at Perrin’s House and Laura Smith, Bradbury Court’s Activities Coordinator. Tina said: “It’s shaping up to be a real Winter Wonderland event – Christmas magic is definitely all around.”
Selena agreed. “The residents are counting down the days until the Christmas festive fun begins and we’ve made sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy on the day.”
“If you need to start your Christmas shopping, or just need to pick up a few Stocking Fillers, there will be wide range of craft stalls selling unique gifts,” Laura added.
“As well as the Christmas craft stalls, we’ll have other stalls including a Bric-a-Brac stall, a stall selling a variety of bags and another selling knitted items – and much more – even tasty festive refreshments, Mulled Wine and Mince Pies,” continued Laura.
“We also have a Tombola, two Raffles, live entertainment courtesy of singer Judi B, face painting and a Christmas Activity table for children to enjoy. Of course, no Christmas Bazaar would be complete without ‘The Man in Red’ himself, the one and only Santa Claus.
“I contacted the North Pole and spoke to one of Santa’s Elves and, even though he’s very busy in his workshop preparing for his Christmas Eve round the world deliveries, he’s promised he’ll be with us on Saturday 7th December to see all the children, of course, our residents,” added Tina.
“Friends of the Elderly Malvern actually has four services on the one site. In addition to Davenham, Perrins House and Bradbury Court, Malvern Day Care Service is also located here,” continued Jo. “We are hoping to see lots of our local community, our day care clients – plus old and new friends – at the Christmas Bazaar.
“Just like the song, Santa Claus really is coming to town – Malvern Town – and in all three care homes, it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. We hope that everyone who comes along to Friends of the Elderly Malvern on Saturday 7th will have a Merry Little Christmas fun-filled day to start the Christmas Season with a sparkle,” Jo concluded.
