At Friends of the Elderly, we always have the wellbeing of residents and clients at the heart of everything we do, together with the welfare, health and safety of our employees.
Throughout the year, we honour long service employees, recognising their commitment and dedication. “Our Long Service Awards are just one, small way, that we acknowledge and praise the commitment of our colleagues who give so much of themselves to the Charity,” said Mathew Yates, Head of Human Resources at Friends of the Elderly. “Our long service members of staff – and all our teams – give 110% every day. It’s their commitment to our residents and clients that keeps the Charity going from strength to strength.”
In the run up to this year’s Employee Appreciation Day, many staff members received Long Service Awards, which are presented for five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 plus years of service.
“As a charity, we could not do what we do without the skills, experience, professionalism, kindness and talents of our team members and volunteers,” added Mark Wilson, the Charity’s Chief Operating Officer.
At Davenham residential care home, one of our three care homes collectively known as Friends of the Elderly Malvern, Unit Manager Maricel Biringquez recently presented Sue Phillips, one of the care home’s Health Care Assistants with her 25 Years Long Service Certificate. Maricel said: “I was so proud to give Sue one of the Charity’s longest service awards. It is a true testament to Sue’s dedication to our residents here at Davenham.”
“A number of our team have been with us for over 20 years, which is an amazing length of service and demonstrates just how devoted and committed they are to supporting and caring for our residents and clients. It’s wonderful to be able to say thank you, not only from the Charity, but on behalf of all those they support, care for and inspire, every day,” Mark continued.
Talking about receiving her five year award, Janice Oommen, our Brand and Digital Marketing Manager said: “It was lovely to receive recognition for my five years of service. I feel honoured and more motivated to see the impact of my work on brand awareness and lead generation for Friends of the Elderly. I’m fortunate that every day I work with a great team who want to deliver the very best they can for our residents, clients and their families.”
Others who have recently received awards include Enid Greenaway, Group Head of Payroll, who received her 10 Year Award, Karen Charity, the Activities Coordinator at Luton-based residential care home, Little Bramingham Farm who received her Five Year Award; and Tracie Why, one of our Day Care Assistants at Wallington Day Care received her 10 Year Award.
At Bernard Sunley, our residential, nursing and dementia care home in Woking, Surrey, Andy Cumper, the care home’s Registered Manager presented a variety of Long Service Awards to his team. “A number of the Bernard Sunley team have been with Friends of the Elderly for many years.
“They are committed to delivering an exceptional level of care to all our residents every day and are dedicated to supporting and caring for each of our residents, always going that extra mile,” said Andy.
“I have recently presented a number of the team with their Long Service Awards. These include four members of the team who each received their Nine Year Award. These were Shift Leader, Agnieszka Szpakowska, two of our Health Care Assistants Monsurat Yusuf and Srijana Kharel and our Deputy Manager Ester Manlubatan
“In addition, three of our Domestic Team received their 15 Year Awards. These were our Domestic Supervisor, Amjad Ali, Zahida Begum and Sobia Aslam. Last, but by no way the least, Susan Casey one of our Health Care Assistants, received her 20 Year Long Service Award. I am so proud of my team and all they do, not only for Friends of the Elderly, but most importantly for all our residents and their families,” added Andy.
“At Friends of the Elderly, we are proud to thank all our colleagues for everything they do for our residents, clients and their families – and the Charity. Their commitment is truly valued as it is only through their hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and loyalty that our residents and clients receive the highest level of bespoke, individualised quality care, every hour of every day,” concluded Mathew.
