2022 December highlights from our care homes

Christmas is always a magical time across our care homes and services, as our care teams work hard to plan festive activities to treat residents and service users. Here are some of the highlights from December:

At The Lawn, our Alton-based residential care home, residents had a lovely surprise when TV gardening royalty and national treasure, Alan Titchmarsh, dropped in to say hello.

Mr Titchmarsh was visiting The Lawn’s residents and care team in his official capacity as Deputy Lieutenant of the County of Hampshire to say thank you to everyone for all their hard work during the COVID pandemic and resulting lockdowns.

We’ve been supported by The Royal Family since the Charity’s earliest work caring for World War I veterans. Her Majesty The Queen is our Patron, and Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra is our President.

Alongside giving us the opportunity to share our work with their Instagram followers, The Royal Family also supported us to ask for #ChristmasCheer messages on social media to share with older people we support. We received lovely messages, which gave a lot of joy to our residents and service users.

A furry festive visit from Jazz the dog

Jazz the dog is a much-loved member of the Bernard Sunley care home family. Owned by the home’s manager, Andy Cumper, Jazz frequently visits the home bringing joy and cuddles to residents all year round.

They were absolutely delighted when Jazz dressed in a special festive cloak and gave them all Christmas kisses!
